One of the large array of farm implements in their collection, this potato planter is on display in a long equipment shed at the south end of the Creston Museum.

One of two potato planters on display at the museum, this would be the older and less advanced of the two. It employed a much more rudimentary method of opening and closing the furrow than did the newer planter. But, if it was all the farmer had at his disposal, it likely saved him a lot of time and work.

This planter, like the more advanced model beside it, had fertilizer hoppers and dropped fertilizer into the furrow on either side of the potato as it dropped.

At a guess, it's possible that these machines could also be used to plant other large seeded crops, such as garlic and onions (not actually seeds, but you see my point).
