With a steel wheel on each side, if one thinks of harness racing one may see from whence comes the name "sulky plow". All steel, it would have been pretty heavy for a single horse to pull. It could have been drawn by one or even two teams.

Wheeled and with a seat for the operator, it was quite an advancement over the walk behind plow and only required of the operator that he operate the levers at the appropriate times to raise and lower the plow share. This was accomplished by raising and lowering each wheel independently.

There is quite a collection of machinery at this museum. This is one of five plows they have on display.
