The present synagogue was designed by architect Sidney Lithwick who also designed the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). In 1960, the synagogue's auditorium and education building was completed. By 1966, the 400-seat sanctuary was open for the use of the congregation. The Burning Bush sculpture adorns the north exterior wall of the sanctuary.
The Agudath Israel congregation (traditional, conservative, egalitarian and inclusive) dates back to the early 1930s. For its first permanent sanctuary, the congregation had purchased the former St Matthias Church at 17 Fairmont Avenue from the Anglican diocese for $2900 in 1938. Today that building is Orpheus House, hosting the Orpheus Musical Theatre Society. In 1948, the growing Agudath Israel congregation relocated to the building at 30 Rosemount Avenue.
According to their web site, Agudath Israel is a member congregation of the The United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism (USCJ) which is the primary organization of synagogues practicing Conservative Judaism in North America.
In 2017, the building has become home to the Kehillat Beth Israel Congregation.
