Starting in 1928 Steamboat Willie, who quickly changed names to Mickey Mouse, launched an animation empire that now spans the world. In 1955 Disneyland opened to the public in the then orange groves of southern California. Today there are Disney theme parks around the globe.
These three characters - Mickey, Minnie, and Pluto - have warmed the hearts of millions of children and adults.
