The former Gooderham and Worts Distillery played an important role in the growth and wealth of the city and nation.
Sheet metal brakes are used to bend (“brake”) metals into angles.
Originally located in the coppersmithing shop, this large brake was human, not steam-powered, and capable of bending metal that was 3 mm thick and 2.4 m long. The operator fed flat metal into the machine, pulled down the handle, neatly folding a length of metal.
