Elevator da Gloria
Elevators Lisbon funiculars are basically used to climb the long, steep slopes of the Portuguese capital.
In Lisbon there are three ski lifts, all designed by Raoul Mesnier de Ponsard, the same engineer who later created the Santa Justa Elevator .
The three elevators are elevator do Lavra, Glória Elevator and Elevator da Bica.
Do Lavra Elevator
The elevator do Lavra was opened in 1884 and is the oldest funicular Lisbon . Connect the street Câmara Pestana and Largo da Announced (perpendicular to Avenida da Liberdade).
Elevator da Glória
The most famous and interesting of the three is the funicular lift da Glória. Communicates with Square Restorers Street San Pedro de Alcantara in the Bairro Alto .

The Glória Funicular was opened to the public on October 24, 1885. At first it was designed as a water-powered system, then in 1886 it was replaced by a steam-power one, and finally in 1915 it was electrified. In 2002 it was designated a National Monument."
