St. Hedwig's was built to serve Polish immigrants to central Minnesota. The cornerstone was laid in 1910, and first services were held on December 31, 1912.
The church is across the street from the Soldiers Shrine, a memorial to American military who died in World War Two. Down the street two blocks is another handsome brick Catholic church, St. Mary's. Nowadays St. Hedwig's and St. Mary's form a parish called "All Saints."
The church building is still in use, but please consult the bulletin to see whether Mass will be at St. Hedwig's on Sunday.
The cross atop the steeple is a survey mark ("benchmark") in the NGS database.
