This village church was built in the C12th of mixed rubble, including puddingstone and some Roman bricks. Its chancel was rebuilt in the C13th and the north aisle and chapel added at this time. The west tower is mid C15th and the porch and heightened north wall - after the removal of a Priests House - is C16th. There is some C16th brickwork in various repairs and also some dressings of Limestone. Later alterations and restorations were carried out in the C18th and later. The roofs are covered in a mix of red tile, slate and lead.

This cut-mark can be found on the south west buttress of the church tower about 0.5m above ground. It was last verified in 1960 as being 29.230m above Newlyn datum. Not weathering very well it is angled downwards to the right.
