The official flag of the city bears Cranbrook's coat of arms on a background nearly identical to that of the flag of Canada, with a white centre flanked by red bars, each one half the width of the centre portion. One small difference is the tone of the red, which is slightly more burgundy in Cranbrook's flag.

This coat of arms may have been adopted by the city as part of their centennial celebration in 2005, as it is known that early in 2004, the city did not yet have an official coat of arms.

Cranbrook's Coat of Arms appears to be supported by a mountain lion and a bear, the upper portion of the crest including the waves and sunset which represent the Province of British Columbia. Below that are represented the mountains and forests of the area with a train, an airplane and a logging truck below. The whole is surmounted by the head of an Elk.
