On the Civic District Trail of Singapore City, adjacent to other public shrines, is this memorial to a soldier, who was tortured and killed by the Japanese military in World War Two. At the base of the shrine are four seated lions, looking outwards. They are stylised, smaller than life-sized, and grey in colour. The memorial was created in 1954.
