This is the old town tall of Wernigerode, Germany, Sachsen-Anhalt. It is also presented on a German stamp of 1968.
The dominant building was first mentioned in 1277. In 1492 it has been enlarged with a festival hall. It received its present appearance after a fire (1521) and a further modification in the years 1539-1544.
It is considered one of the most beautiful town halls in Europe.
