Depicted bronze portal is located at entrance of Metzger's house on Orlí street in Brno-Center. This house is also known as House at Stone Maid, which inspired owners of the house, to made such portal, where is legend about her translated into couple of languages and there's also small statuette of Stone Maid. Whole portal was maid in 2007 during the reconstruction of the house.
About stone maid from Orlí street
Stone statue of the Maid still reminds as the story about girl called Johanka, who were municipal orphan. But she apparently fell in love with the son of the postmaster (in some versions with son from some noble family). But according to the legend, boy's stepmother did not want to even think about such relationship and accused the girl of witchcraft. She saw, that there's no other way and to avoid the court, she rather jumped into the well in the yard. Postmaster/Noble son were unfortunately that day on the hunt with father - but after this happened, he felt something bad and tried to hurry up back home. He came late and couldn't save her. At least he paid to some sculptor to made a statue of her, to still have something to remind him that love of them...
