A large arch over the entrance, complete with relief carvings of a baseball player on one side and a soccer player on the other support post, serves to let the uninitiated know that they have, indeed, arrived at the park. Rustic in appearance, it is fabricated of three large peeled and varnished logs.
This athletic park could be referred to as
Tournament Central, as it contains four ball diamonds, four soccer fields, a football field, a fieldhouse and a playground for the kids. A really large open park, it was officially dedicated October 1st, 2005, not coincidentally Cranbrook's centennial year. As well, the park has a large parking lot in the centre, next to the field house which, incidentally, was a Cranbrook Rotary Sunrise project.
The park is named after and dedicated to George T. Moir (1871 - 1955), an indefatigable supporter and driving force behind athletics in the City of Cranbrook.
The fields can be adapted to host a variety of activities such as lacrosse and field hockey. The multi-level layout also creates effective backdrops so that the facility can be safely used for sports such as archery.
The exceptional quality of the facility is complemented by spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains.
