...it still leads a productive life. The railbed and bridges, culverts, etc. of The Slocan Valley Railway, abandoned by the CPR in 1993, are now the components of
The Slocan Valley Rail Trail.
This bridge would have been built at the time of the building of the railway, beginning in 1897. It is a steel truss bridge of about 150 feet. This was a very common style of bridge of this size in that era.
Lemon Creek is one of the dozens of creeks that the railway crossed on its journey up the valley from its junction with the mainline at Crescent Valley. It is about 7 km. south of the village of Slocan.
The trail/road which accesses this bridge (Kennedy Road) heads west off Highway 6, 7.3 km. south of the Slocan City turnoff and just south of the Lemon Creek Rest Area. The road heads west for about a third of a mile to the Lemon Creel Trailhead. From there the bridge is about a quarter mile north on the trail.
