Though Spokane Falls Community College has a fine 4,000 seat football stadium, it no longer has a team to play in it. Once a member of the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC), which once boasted as many as nine football teams in Washington and Oregon, the NWAACC's membership had dwindled to three members, leaving Spokane Falls Community College with just two opponents when the school decided to pull the plug on football in January of 1990. The
Seattle Times posted their obituary on January 17, 1990.
The college is into many other sports, such as soccer, track and field, baseball, softball, volleyball, golf, cross country and tennis, but, at present at least, not football. Rather than stand derelict, the stadium is at least home to one team, the
SFCC Sasquatch Soccer Team.
Most of the Community Colleges of Spokane’s soccer matches are played in the SFCC stadium, which is a 4000 seat, lighted, fully secured stadium, on a 72 by 115 yard grass field. The field has automatic sprinklers and is kept in excellent condition.
The stadium has a professional sound system and a full scoreboard. There is a full sized concession facility and adequate spectator restrooms. Inside the stadium is a team meeting room with a full audio/visual system; staff offices; men and women locker rooms and shower facilities; adequate storage; a large exercise room and a free-weight training center.
The pristine, park like setting around the stadium allows room for another two soccer fields. It also has an immaculate baseball park and a softball park.
