At the museum are several outdoor displays, both railroad and agriculture related. Railroad wise, there are a pair of old speeders, a railway tie laying machine, old switch actuators, a CPR caboose, and this boxcar, also commandeered from the CPR. Though it is a steel sided boxcar and doesn't look terribly old, it had apparently been retired by the CPR.
The 40 foot boxcar carries CPR number 56561. It was manufactured by the Eastern Car Co. and bought new by the CPR in 1959. This was in the days before grain hopper cars, so we can safely assume that it hauled many loads of grain to the coast, among other things.
An AAR Class XM car, it is essentially identical to AAR Type 106 boxcars, which it probably is - the trucks are stamped AAR B46.
