The North Buxton Park is located behind the Buxton National Historic Site and Museum. It is the location of the North Buxton Homecoming, an annual event which serves to reunite descendants of former slaves who once sought refuge in the Elgin Settlement ("Buxton" - 1849-1873) prior to the abolition of slavery in the United States. The Reunion started as a one-day event in 1924, and has grown into a four-day long celebration where people celebrate their heritage through music, conferences, and a variety of activities in the community.
Facilities at this park include a children's playground, basketball court, and baseball diamond. A large pavilion is located just outside the park fence, on the museum property. There are no washroom facilities at this park.
