The Masonic Order - Fayette Lodge held meeting here in 1804. In 1826 the Congregational Church was organized in the building and services were held here until 1827. The tavern operated here from 1840 to 1859. It also served as David Craig's tailoring establishment in the 1850's. It retains its Federal architecture look. It is one of the two surviving taverns in town, with the other being Rider Tavern which is not part of the District.
