This is one of 64 Road Weather Stations scattered along the highways of BC. Each one measures pavement surface temperature and condition, precipitation, snow depth, air temperature, humidity and wind direction and speed. Data from each is updated hourly (ideally) and used for road weather forecasts, avalanche forecast and prevention and to augment Environment Canada forecasts.

Power for this station is supplied, at least partially, by a pair of large solar panels mounted high in the centre of the station.

At this RWS there is a pullout and a pathway leading to it to allow photography.

BC Transportation has more information on the RWS system at TranBC.

Type of system: Photovoltaic (electrical)
