The contents of the Lake Oswego Centennial time capsule will preserve the year 2010 for future generations. When the approximately 2’ x 2’ capsule is opened 100 years from now, its contents will shed light on today’s world for the wide-eyed observers of the future.

Lake Oswego Centennial planners invited everyone to see history in the making and witness the ceremonial and symbolic locking of the time capsule for the next 100 years on Sunday, October 10, 2010 at 1 p.m. (The capsule was locked permanently at the end of December so that the Year 2010 in Review wrap-up could be included in the vault.)

On October 10, at Millennium Plaza Park; after the items that best represent 2010 had been placed in the time capsule, after each item had been best prepared for its long internment, and the nitrogen had been injected into the tube, the time capsule was properly locked away.
