Supervising Artists are Darlene MacDonald and Debee Kison, Youth Advisory Council, and Creston Kootenay Foundation. It was created in 2006. Youth from the area assisted in paining this colorful mural.

Kootenay's Tundra Swans depicts two adult swans with three hatchlings enjoying the sunshine on the back of one of the swans. There is also a nest with three eggs in the lower right corner; showing the names of the supervising artists and other contributors to the project. There are three other signatures on the murals, assuming they are names of some of the youth artists.

Just as you enter Creston from the west is the Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area comprising of 7,000-hectare (17,000-acre) area of provincial Crown land located along the Kootenay River system. The wetlands are a protected area; there is an interpretive center, board walkways and signs along with walkways explaining the habitat. The Creston Valley is a migration corridor for Tundra Swans.

Twice a year, (sping and fall) exotic tundra swans touch down in the Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area to refuel and rest. There are over 100,000 migrating water birds visiting the area each year, and the tundra swan comprise part of this number.

The Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area is located at 1760 West Creston Road and can be accessed from Hwy. 3. Coordinates:N 49 07.199 W 116 37.903 this is for the interpretive center.
