Back in the days of colonization, the religion was a very important part of everyday's life. Curé Labelle, the father of colonisation in the Laurentians, and other priests were often paying a visit to the family of their parish. During that period, it was pretty common to see large families. My own grand-parents had 18 children, something we don't see anymore.
