An air cooled engine, this one is about a 1 1/2 or 2 HP engine, air cooled. The name plate was too grungy to read much of. The name starts with "The Man", then possibly an "s", then "????", below which it appears to read "PAR? PUMP ???". Could it be a Mansfield? Could be almost anything. Just can't as yet find information on this thing.
This is an upright engine of simple design with an enclosed crankcase. It uses an exhaust only valve train, but seems a bit more modern than others on display here. Possibly made in the 1930s or 1940s.
Though this and many other great pieces of machinery are in a museum, they are all parts of outdoor displays, for which there is no charge to view.
