This is by far the larger of the two, capable of producing 200 horsepower. A replacement for the original engine, which was installed in 1898, this engine was used for several decades beginning in 1928, driving machinery and saws in the main sawmill. It was used by the Canyon City Lumber Company, which was later renamed Creston Sawmills and still later amalgamated with Cranbrook-based Crestbrook Timber Limited. The sawmill remained in operation until November of 1981. It's not known whether this engine remained in use up to the time of the plant's closure.

This engine appears to be complete, even retaining its centrifugal governor on the intake line. It could probably still be run today, provided that the piston isn't frozen in the bore.

This is one of the many outdoor displays at the museum, for which there is no admission fee required.
