This machine employed a two stage process, first crushing, then compressing the fruit, thereby removing as much juice as practical from whatever fruit was on the menu for the day.

The crushing was accomplished by engine power, while the compression was done manually, using a handwheel turning a screw which in turn compressed the fruit.

This is one of the many outdoor displays at the museum, for which there is no admission fee required.
