Lloyds Register of Shipping is located on the south east side of Fenchurch Street in the City of London. Within the shipping communities of the world, Lloyds Register is well known and respected. The galleon weathervane is atop a turret.

The weathervane sits high above the street on one
of the building's turrets. It is a beautifully detailed model of a galleon with
rigging, rivets, rudder and sails. A couple of sails are full of wind to give
the weathervane its direction and other sails remain furled. The four main
compass points are fitted to some iron scroll work low down and can just be seen
from ground level.
The
Secret London website,
in its Ship Ahoy section, tells us:
Appropriately, this weathervane is a gilded ship,
with great detail. Every large ship in the world is registered by Lloyd’s, not
be confused with the insurance company of the same name. This old building is on
the site of the original coffee house which both Lloyd’s grew out of.
