This BM is on the vertical wall of an overpass for the railway going over Highway 3. The wall is right on the edge of the highway, thus it can easily be whacked by errant vehicles passing though the underpass. Naturally, this has happened more than once in the past 42 years, so the BM is in pretty bad shape, though I've seen worse. The number stamp is no longer readable so we have to rely on the NRCAN description for identification.

C.P.R. Overpass for highway no. 3, 4.4 km east of bridge over Kootenay River, 0.3 km west of junction with Highway No. 3a, 0.6 km northeast of junction with highway no. 21, tablet in south face of north concrete abutment, 30 cm east of west corner of main abutment, 50 cm above highway level.
