Originally Western Pacific #618 (WP 618) this composite (steel and wood) cabooses were converted from 15001 - 16000 series outside braced Pullman Standard box cars in 1938. It was re-numbered as Sacramento Northern 1639 (SN 1639). Sacramento Northern was a wholly owned subsidiary of the WP. (

It operated on the streets of Oakland, Sacramento, Yuba City, Chico, and Woodland and ran passenger service until 1941 and freight service into the 1960s.
