Theodor Mommsen

War ein berühmter Wissenschaftler der in Garding am 30.November 1817 geboren wurde.
Er erhielt am 10.12.1902 als erster Deutscher den Literaturnobelpreis
für sein Werk zur "Römischen Geschichte".
Hier ist zu seiner Ehren eine Büste mit zwei Schrifttafeln aufgestellt.
Ausserdem befindet sich gleich daneben auch das Geburtshaus Mommsens.

his work on the "History of Rome".
Here is erected to his honor a bust with two writing tablets.
