"A life-size stag. His legs are folded under him, except for his proper right leg which is raised with the hoof touching the ground, as if he is about to stand up. The stag's ears stand straight up and on his neck is a rough mane. The stag rests atop a roughly textured plinth, and there are two small twigs near his proper right foreleg. The lower base is made of old red brick." - Smithsonian Art Inventory

It appears the sculpture once had antlers though it did not at the time the sculpture was listed on the Smithsonian Art Inventory. It is is in good condition.
