Located within Tub Springs State Park are two historical placards that highlight the Applegate Trail, an emigrant trail that passed through this park and was first trekked in 1846. These placards exist just a short distance from the Loop Trail trailhead and near Tub Springs, a natural freshwater spring that was converted into a fountain in the 1930s for travelers as a stopping point for a fresh spring water.
