The capsule is enclosed within a rock covered by a bronze plaque located north of the Hays County courthouse in middle of town. Now in front of the Black Rabbit Saloon.
The bronze plaque reads:
Sesquicentennial Time Capsule
Here lies the Sesquicentennial Time Capsule, filled with items contributed by the citzenry for future generations to exhume in 2051. Buried Dec. 15, 2001, as part of San Marcos' 150th birthday celebration.
