The Mathematics and Computing Building, like most on the campus, is brick faced, which carries up to include this clock tower. The tower has a clock face on each of its four sides, with a simple numberless clock face on each, the inference being that college students should be able to divine which marks represent what numbers, thereby deducing the correct time.
The clock is, however, big enough to be seen all over the campus, enabling it to aid other students and faculty in their (sometimes vain) attempts at timeliness.
