A prisoner in a psychiatric hospital, Eric Jansen, escapes from custody within a year of being sentenced. The late Marty Hopkirk was instrumental in putting him behind bars. Jansen has escape, intent on revenge one year on from his arrest.
Jansen breaks into Jeff Randall’s flat and finds out from Jeff that Marty is dead and that Jeannie has inherited his half of the business. Jansen determines to have his revenge on Jeannie in Marty’s stead.
Jeannie is going out with Emil Cavallo Smith when Jeff rings her to warn her. Marty isn’t happy about Emil and gets Jeff to check him out. It turns out Emil is married. Not only is Jeff checking Emil out, so is Sam Grimes, a known associate of Jansen. Jeff confronts Grimes and finds out the Jansen intends to use Emil to get to Jeannie.
Jansen forces Emil to get Jeannie to come over to Emil’s cold store business. Jeannie is under police protection, but manages to evade her minder and arrives at Emil’s cold store at the same time as Jeff. Unfortunately Jansen manages to escape with Jeannie, and they head for the coast. Jansen takes Jeannie up the cliffs just as Marty had done a year earlier. Marty had given Jansen an ultimatum of be arrested or jump. Jansen has the same thing in mind for Jeannie. Jeff gets there in time and confronts Jansen. This time Janse slips and falls off the cliffs.
