possibly with the rental place at Sunrise. Continue downstream to takeouts at the ped/bicycle bridge at River Bend (or restrooms), or on to Watt Avenue (south side). Admission is charged for vehicles and trailers in all Sacramento Co. parks. Seasonal passes are also an option. Water levels on the river fluctuate DAILY because of the generation at Nimbus/ Hazel. Fishing has been curtailed for the 2014 season due to low water.
During average flows, one could continue past the Guy West ped bridge at the Calif. State University, Sacramento (definitely parking permits here) and to the confluence of the Sacramento River at Discovery Park. No camping anywhere (compete with homeless).
The International Triathalon kayaks between Sunrise and River Bend.
Distances are optional (if you like paddling up current).
Weekends can include rafters below Sunrise.
Option 2 would be at Negro Bar (Folsom, on the north side) to
Hazel Avenue or South side from Willow Creek.
*
A daily pass is good at all County Parks on the same day.
WME24N details a "boat ramp" at the east end.
Parking/put-in/launching information:
Drivers must hike from the parking to the launch or exit points. Some are circles; most are five minutes up the levee or so. Restrooms are available at a number of the county parks. It helps to recognize which side of the river and know the place beforehand!

Paddling conditions to be expected:
lake like above Hazel Av. tight corner below Sunrise, known as San Juan rapids (some folks spill here). higher flows normal in the spring. whitewater would be the Upper forks above Folsom Lake from US80.

Difficulty of the trip:
previous flatwater Level 1? can require higher skill level following dam releases or heavy rains.

Length of trip: 2 - 20 / 1 - 4 + hrs.

Portages:
one , if you insist on seeing it all. Recommend a vehicle to cross the intersection at Hazel Avenue (six lanes). + 1/2 mile? There is an aquatic center to the East that is sponsored by CSUS (sailing and team rowing done here). Recommend different stages.

Permits required:
Fishing is currently restricted (Spring 2014). NO camping, campfires, alcohol. glass containers. Dogs must be on lead.

Type of trip:
Loops work. Arranging a shuttle is nice.

Take-out Coordinates: N 38° 34.280 W 121° 22.970

Other information:
Ancil Hoffman park on the north side at the ped bridge has deer and wild turkeys and interesting displays. The State Fish Hatchery is below Hazel Avenue. Multiple kayaks might take advantage of the boat ramps WME24N.
