CHENAULT SCHOOL
The Chenault School was built in 1919 t replace the original log cabin school built in 1859. It was moved from the original site located in Section 8 of Ealeigh Township in 1971 and contains the original desks, blackboards, and books.
The Chenault School, is typical of the one room schools used as late is 1945. The bell had been in a private collection but was given to the museum. Teachers are welcome to bring classes to experience school life in Southern Illinois from another century.
Chenault School was originally 2 miles east of Galatia, IL., and 1 mile north on LeCount Rd. This one room school was moved and now sits in a pioneer museum in Harrisburg, IL.
