After 95 years of educating students, Fairview Elementary School officially closed its doors in June, 2013. There was an article recently in the newspaper that mentions the City of Klamath Falls donating this former school to the local YMCA to take over the operation and management.

Located in a small patch of lawn in front of the former school is a small tree that contains a metal tulip with a small plaque that reads:

In loving memory of
Fairview Student

Autumn O'Shields
2009

I did some online research for Autumn and found an obituary for her on FindAGrave.com and reads:

Autumn Loreon-Lee O'Sheilds, 5 years old, left her earthly home on Nov. 22, 2009, in Reno, Nev. A service of tribute and love will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at Eternal Hills Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at Eternal Hills.

Autumn was born on Aug. 15, 2004, in Klamath Falls, Ore., to Joshua O'Sheilds and Tina Tomera.

Autumn was a kindergartner at Fairview Elementary School. Her favorite things were coloring, dancing and playing on her Nana's piano, playing with her Barbies, going camping and fishing with her Grandpa, "Papa" Doug, and spending time at the ocean with her family. She loved her kitty, Jack. Her family called her a "little tornado" because she brought so much energy and love with her when she entered a room. She was outgoing and a chatterbox, who will be missed by everyone.

She is survived by her father, Josh O'Sheilds, of Klamath Falls; mother, Tina Tomera, of Klamath Falls; sister Shilee Haynes, of California; grandparents, Sandra "Yaya" Catalli and Carlene and Doug "Papa" Tomera and great-grandmother Edna "Nana" Guiducci, all of Klamath Falls; uncle, Donovan "DoDo" O'Sheilds, of Texas; aunt Stephanie DeBarberi; great-grandmother, Lela Johnson; great-grandparents, Claude and Virginia Tomera, of Klamath Falls; great-aunts and great-uncles, Angela Angelo, Anthony Catalli and Gino Catalli; numerous cousins, friends and other family members; and her two best friends, Angel and Lupe.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandfather, Raymond Catalli. Guiducci, and great-grandfather, Gino.
