"Denver is regarded as the Mile High City since its height is one mile – 5,280 feet – above ocean level. Denver is the main state house placed at precisely one mile in elevation. Despite the fact that the fifteenth step of the Capitol Building was cut with the designation as "ONE MILE ABOVE SEA LEVEL," some Colorado State University engineering students in 1969 discovered that this was not the right position. To correct this issue, a geodetic attachment was placed on the eighteenth step.
