These stairs offer the possibility of ascending from the river level, in Old Porto, to the upper level of the historical city(or vice-verse). It's a hard walk, considering the angle and the number of steps. There is modern lift (2 Eur) nearby serving as an alternative. However, the stairs are a picturesque way and a must to anyone exploring Porto.
