This figure of a Black Friar stands over the entrance to a pub named Blackfriars in the City of London. It is at the western end of Queen Victoria Street close to Blackfriars Station and bridge.

The friar, who is about life-size is wearing robes with his hands resting on his stomach. He has a broad smile on his face that could relate to the pub to which he is attached!

The statue is there to draw attention to the pub named the Blackfriar with the name coming from a priory that used to exist in these parts several centuries ago.
