Before amalgamation with the City of Ottawa in 2001 there was Vanier. Before the name change to Vanier in 1969 there was Eastview. Before the creation of the village of Eastview in 1908 there was Janeville, Clarkstown and Clandeboye. Before the village of Janeville was created in 1873 there was a brothel one mile east of the Rideau River on Montreal Road.
Built from adobe in 1862 and known as Tara Hall (Maison de Terre), this brothel became the Janeville Hotel, then a private residence and then in 1887 it became the presbytery of the Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes parish.
The mural depicts Janeville Hotel set in the countryside along the dirt road to Montréal. The scene shows the Hotel in the middle with a creek running through rocks on the right and a meadow in bloom on the left.
