Drevený kríž stojí u bývalé poutní kaple Panny Marie Bolestné. Kapli nechala vystavet obec Popice v letech 1815-1816. Kríž je mnohem mladší, snad z doby, kdy byla kaple opravena.

A wooden cross stands at the former pilgrimage chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows. The chapel was built by the municipality Popice in the years 1815-1816. The cross is much younger, perhaps from the time when the chapel was repaired.
