This memorial is located in Tsunami Landing Plaza and consists of a bronze abstract sculpture of seagulls and fish by Bruno Groth in a pool with six water jets playing on the sculpture. There is a granite memorial stone in the pool wall dedicating the fountain to the victims of the 1964 tsunami.
A magnitude 9.2 earthquake occurred on the evening of March 27, 1964 in Prince William Sound, in Southeastern Alaska. The resulting ocean floor displacement generated a major tsunami which spread down the west coast to southern California. (
