The map outlines the flora & fauna the reserve protects, the restrictions that apply to visitors & your position in relation to the canal. The cost of the ferry for non-residents of the island is $10 which in itself is a big disincentive. The ferry crosses Australia's first canal dug in 1822 & which has since expanded considerably. The Shoalhaven River now flows through the canal into the Crookhaven River which empties into the Pacific Ocean nearby. The mouth of the Shoalhaven River is generally closed only opening in times of flood & with the help of the local council.
Location Name: Approach to ferry that crosses the canal to Comerong Island.
