When The University of Texas' beloved Victorian Gothic Old Main building was razed in 1935 to make way for the current Main Building, several of its pieces and parts were rescued and preserved. They are scattered around Austin and the University of Texas. See here for one remnant that has found a new home as the Gethsemane Church doors: (visit link)

While poking around the Main Building, a nice lady in the Science Library told Mama Blaster about a wonderful stained glass window from the Old Main Building in the Provost's Office.

The ladies in the Provost's Office were more than happy to show off the window, the gift of the class of 1909.

In the same room two memorial plaques from the auditorium are preserved that recall the contributions to both the state of Texas and the University of Texas by W. L. Prather (namesake of Prather Hall) and Leslie Waggener (namesake of Waggener Hall).

A third plaque (more of a cornerstone) commemorating the completion of the East Wing of Old Main is also preserved here. Other namesakes of buildings that still stand at UT are (again) W. L. Prather and G. W. Brackenridge (Brackenridge Hall).

Because all of these remnants are in the same room, I have decided to roll them into one waymark.

The University of Texas Provost's office in is Room 220, on the second floor of the Main Building. Anyone can ask to see these remnants -- just stop at the receptionist's desk and she will direct you to the waiting room where the remnants are.
