The two Golden Bears at the south end of the Klamath River Bridge. Following the destruction of the old Douglas Memorial Bridge during the Christmas 1964 flood a new bridge was constructed at a new location about a mile upstream. The new bridge featured Golden Bears at each end of the bridge as had become tradition on the old bridge. Check here (visit link) for the history of “How the Bears Turned Gold”.
