Why i this statue very special: because it marks the place where Cristobal Colon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Columbus) was originally buried, in the monastery of Cartuja (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monastery_of_Santa_Maria_de_las_Cuevas).

The statue is on display in a public area of the monastery and it has an inscription, which translates to something like this:

"In memory of the original burial place of Cristobal Colon, where he rested from 1513 to 1826 in the church of this Cartuja de Santa Maria de Las Cuevas, by the marquise widow of Pickman, 1887"

The statue itself, about real size scale, is made of white stone, and stands on the top of a high plinth.
