Sunset Memorial Park is located in Hoquiam, a Grays Harbor town located on the Washington coast at the mouth of the Hoquiam River, 12 miles from the Pacific Ocean. It now contains more than 14,000 marked graves which mostly date from 1900 to the present. The city maintains an online report from a database to assist in finding graves.

According to the City of Hoquiam Website:

"Sunset Memorial was purchased by the City of Hoquiam in 1933 under the direction of then Mayor Truman Kellogg. He envisioned Sunset Memorial to be one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the Pacific Northwest. Under his direction, a new entrance was built into the cemetery off of what is now known as Sunset Drive. Work relief crews created a new section, built roads, planted shrubs and planted over 500 trees which had been donated by Polson Logging. They also worked at repairing the old portion of the cemetery which had fallen into disrepair. On Memorial Day of 1934, Civil War Veteran Amos Berry raised the dedication flag on the new Sunset Memorial Park. Mayor Truman declared that there would no longer be a potters field, that everyone buried at Sunset Memorial would be treated with respect and receive the same care regardless of their financial standings."
