The winged griffins are about 3 feet tall with a curled tongue visible in their open beaks. Unfortunately there is no sign at the site indicating the artist, title or date.

Griffins, creatures with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle, were believed to protect treasures and possessions. See, the Wikipedia article at (visit link)
