This is one of two White Elephant stores in the area, the other being in north Seattle. They are almost exclusively a hunting and fishing store, though they cater to a few other tastes, as well.
They also carry a lot of outdoor clothing, canoes and kayaks, camping and hiking gear and boots, but hunting and fishing are obviously their bread and butter. This is a fairly large store, with two floors of toys for the outdoor enthusiast to peruse. Actually, they do carry a lot of actual TOYS, too.
The first White Elephant was opened in Spokane in 1946, by John Conley, Sr., with this, the second, being added in 1976. Originally they were primarily an army surplus reseller and gradually moved into the outdoor sporting arena.
